In partnership with RENEW Wisconsin, the City of Madison, and Dane County, local resident Michael Vickerman will lead in-person walking tours showcasing a variety of solar installations in the Shenk-Atwood-Starkweather-Yahara (SASY) neighborhood in Madison’s East Side. This area features a large cluster of residential PV systems as well as installations serving local nonprofits and businesses, as well as Olbrich Gardens. When we complete the walk, participants are encouraged to sample the food and refreshment offerings at a nearby establishment. Three tours will be hosted in spring, summer, and early fall.

Getting to The Tour
We’ll meet at the main entrance to the Olbrich Gardens conservatory. The building is on the north side of Atwood Avenue, about 100 yards south of the Capital City Bike Path. There is ample automobile and bicycle parking capacity to the west of the conservatory building. Bus riders can take the C bus, which runs along Atwood Ave. The closest stop is in front of Olbrich Gardens.

Accessibility Information
The walking tour will be about one mile in length, traveling on hard surfaces the whole way. It is an uphill walk from Olbrich Gardens to the corner of Welch and Oakridge. After that, the terrain is mostly level.
Rain Date
Should rain force the cancellation of the walking tour on May 28, it will be rescheduled for June 4, beginning at 4:30 PM. Notice of any cancellation and rescheduling will be sent out via email before noon on the 28th.
